Completing ILM Coaching Qualifications Despite a Busy Schedule

Fitting an ILM coaching qualification into a busy schedule requires careful planning and dedication. People sometimes underestimate what is required. Alongside attending training, accessing E-learning, reading and tutorials, ILM learners are required to undertake a number of coaching hours (this varies depending on the level) and document their journey.

Here are some steps you can take to make it more manageable, it’s worth thinking about this before you embark on your programme.

Assess Your Schedule: Take a close look at your current schedule and identify any pockets of time that you can allocate for studying and coursework. This might include evenings, weekends, or lunch breaks, diarise time in advance will be very helpful, especially after coaching sessions when you will have notes to write up.

Set Clear Goals: Define your objectives for obtaining the ILM coaching qualification. Understanding why you want this qualification can help you stay motivated and focused throughout the process.

Create a Study Plan: Break down the coursework into smaller, manageable tasks and create a study plan. Set specific deadlines for completing each task to keep yourself accountable.

Prioritise Tasks: Prioritise your coursework and any related activities over less important commitments. This might mean saying no to certain social engagements or delegating tasks at work to free up time, your tutorials can help you do this.

Utilise Online Resources: Many ILM courses offer online resources and materials that you can access at your convenience. Take advantage of these resources to study whenever and wherever you have spare time.

Seek Support: Let your friends, family, and colleagues know about your goal of obtaining the ILM coaching qualification. They can offer support and understanding when you need to dedicate time to your studies.

Practice Time Management: Improve your time management skills by setting specific blocks of time for studying and sticking to them. Avoid procrastination and stay disciplined with your schedule.

Stay Consistent: Consistency is key when fitting a qualification into a busy schedule. Even if you can only dedicate a small amount of time each day to studying, sticking to a consistent routine will help you make progress over time.

Stay Flexible: Be prepared to adjust your schedule as needed to accommodate unexpected events or changes in priorities. Flexibility is important when balancing multiple commitments.

By following these steps and staying committed to your goal, you can fit achieving an ILM coaching qualification into your busy schedule.

It will be worth it when you receive your certificate and start your journey as a professional coach.
