ILM Level 5 Certificate and Diploma in Effective Coaching

An ILM level 5 coaching qualification provides a comprehensive level of knowledge and skills in coaching and mentoring within a workplace or other similar context. It is more extensive than the level 3 coaching and mentoring qualifications in both knowledge content and increased coaching/mentoring hours.

Trainee coaches for this ILM qualification could be employees, freelancers or volunteers and will gain both competence and confidence in operating as an effective coach/mentor.

Learners embarking on any ILM qualification will require time and commitment to undertake the activities required to achieve the accreditation.

Who is it for?

This qualification is designed for managers and those who have significant responsibility for coaching/mentoring as part of their daily role. They are also suitable for those who wish to develop into the role or who are or aspire to be freelance, independent coaches and/or mentors. You will get the tools and confidence to coach and mentor people with additional focus on the managerial aspects and organisational dynamics.

What do the Certificate and Diploma Cover?

The Level 5 Certificate and Diploma both include three units as outlined below covering knowledge and practical application:

  • Understanding Skills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoring within an organisational context
  • Undertaking Effective Coaching or Mentoring within an organisational context (18 hours Cert/54 hours Dip)
  • Reviewing Own Ability as a Coach or Mentor within an Organisational Context 

** The Diploma requires significantly increased coaching hours with more tutorial support and coaching supervision

Course Delivery

We offer a combination of routes which include a fully taught model of workshops and blended learning models with a combination of workshops, e-learning and webinars.

Typically, the ILM Level 5 fully taught programme would include 5-6 one-day workshops.

All learners have an ILM Qualification Induction, receive a course textbook with other materials and regular tutorials and coaching/mentoring supervision.

Assessment Activities

Requirements for 3 units include a written knowledge assignment, a reflective coaching diary documenting your practical journey and supporting evidence from your coachees and supervisor tracking your progress.

ILM Qualification Costs

Open courses £2395 inc Vat for Certificate, £2995 inc Vat for the Diploma per head. In-house courses start from £1975 + Vat per head for the Certificate  – all inclusive of ILM fees and programme components, discounts available for group bookings of 10+.

Progression to other ILM Qualifications

After completing this qualification, you may want to progress onto the level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring if you wish to coach/mentor at a higher level. You may also be interested in ILM Qualifications in Leadership and Management which we offer at levels 3, 5 and 7.
